Artist Series: Emily Poulin

We first met Emily when Prickly Pear Paper first opened it's doors in 2017. She came in smiling and we were able to reminisce about the days in Southern California where Emily currently resides and where we had recently moved from. We have been following her amazing design work ever since and finally got around to having her make a card for us. Her playful use of text and simple line illustrations seemed like a perfect fit for some letterpressed cards. After running in to her in Palm Springs at the Mojave Flea, we decided to keep the desert theme going so Emily created these wonderful Desert Babe Birthday cards and soon to be printed Joshua Tree Pattern box sets. PRICKLY PEAR VACATION: WICKENBURG, AZ

Every January, we join our family on a long weekend trip to Rancho de Los Caballeros in Wickenburg, AZ. Mark's family has been visiting this authentic, western dude ranch for years since he was little. It's always a memorable trip and a great way to start off the year with family, riding horses, playing golf, plus lots of hiking and relaxing in nature. Some of our favorite activities at the ranch include long nature walks discovering new plants, cacti, & species native to the Southwest. Artist Series: Garritt Gilbert

Our next Artist Series feature highlights good friend and talented designer, Garritt Gilbert. His organic hand drawn style has graced everything from skateboards, to watches, to our shelves on some of our favorite two letterpressed cards. Drawing inspiration from the Arizona landscape and the great outdoors, Garritt has a special knack for finding vintage books and illustrations and repurposing them to give them a new life. Looking for a couple of outdoorsy themed cards, we reached out to Garritt and he beautifully drew up the Toad-ally Rock and Wild Thing Love card that have quickly become top sellers in the store.
