Every January, we join our family on a long weekend trip to Rancho de Los Caballeros in Wickenburg, AZ. Mark's family has been visiting this authentic, western dude ranch for years since he was little. It's always a memorable trip and a great way to start off the year with family, riding horses, playing golf, plus lots of hiking and relaxing in nature. Some of our favorite activities at the ranch include long nature walks discovering new plants, cacti, & species native to the Southwest.

My favorite part of each year is riding the horses, we go on a "nature ride" for a few hours learning about the history of the land in Wickenburg and all of the animals, reptiles, and plants that call Arizona home. Since we don't really get the chance to ride horses in Phoenix, I love being able to do it here where there is more land for the horses to roam freely.
The weekend also comes with it's fair share of downtime, which is priceless after the busy holiday season. During this trip, we used our downtime to sit on our patio, enjoy the desert view, and make our new favorite western cocktail, the oaxacan sunrise (inspired by our recent trip to Palm Springs). You can make your own with a little mezcal, lime juice, orange juice, and some chili salt. The scenery and historic downtown of Wickenburg have inspired us & our products in so many ways over the years, our "cactus country" pennant was dreamt up during last year's trip to Wickenburg.
Mark took a drive out to Congress, AZ about 30 minutes north of Wickenburg. Congress is another very small mining-town with these ornately painted rocks, known skull rock and frog rock.
We also went on a tour of the Vulture Mine in Wickenburg. It was a historic and informative history of the town and it's fruitful past in gold mining, lead by our trusty tour guide Joyce. It was once the largest and most productive gold mine in Arizona's history and many of the original buildings remain on the property. This trip was full of the greatest memories of not only our family, but also our desert home. We love all of the unique places that Arizona has to visit and love experiencing the old, western charm of Wickenburg and Rancho de los Caballeros.
