Prickly Pear Vacation: PARIS

We just got back from our honeymoon in Paris! It was our first time visiting the "City of Light" and my first time in Europe. We decided to spend our entire week in Paris to take it all in and not feel rushed to get all the sights in before jetting off to the next country, which I highly recommend! The biggest takeaways from our trip were: wine, cheese, baguettes, croissants, macarons, gardens, architecture, history, culture, and espresso. You get the idea.  The thing we loved most about the city was the beauty of everyday French life. The streets are lined with cafes on every corner, all with equally delicious menus and happy hour can be found almost everywhere. When...

The Ivy Event: Happy Hour at Barnone

A few months back we co-hosted a super fun meet-up for the AZ small business and creative community in partnership with The Ivy Event! It was called "The Ivy Event: Happy Hour with Prickly Pear Paper" and was held here at Barnone in April 2017.  Since we are somewhat new to the greater Phoenix area and just opened in November 2016, we wanted to have a night out to get to know other small business owners and creatives within our community so we partnered with The Ivy Event who hosts events like this a few times a year in the Phoenix area and beyond. The Ivy Event is all about connecting people, supporting local business, and establishing new relationships and...

Recap: National Stationery Show 2017

This was our first year attending the National Stationery Show aka NSS! As paper and design enthusiasts it's been a dream of ours to attend this huge show of all stationery and paper goods from around the world. It is held annually in May in New York City.(Fun Fact: New York is our favorite city!) Day 1: When we got in on Saturday we wanted to have a free day enjoying our favorite things about New York...the food, the views, and walking everywhere. Our first stop was this amazing rooftop bar in Chelsea where we were staying for the week, called Rare View Rooftop. It had gorgeous views, and I loved the atmosphere and music. Then we decided to walk...

Recap: Our First Kids Card-Making Class!

We were thrilled to have our very first kids workshop in celebration of Mother's Day a few weeks ago. We had a super fun group of 4-12 year old students that attended to make a custom card for Mom, with a little help from us. It was so exciting to teach them about letterpress printing and the history behind it. Each student was able to see how the cards are made and then spend some time coloring the exclusive card designed for their Mom to keep for years to come. We had the most fun watching to see what colors and stickers each of them were drawn to and were so impressed with each one of their artistic abilities. Then we...

Our Wedding Stationery: Part 1

It's wedding season for us here at Prickly Pear Paper! We are getting married in October in Palm Springs! It's a perfect halfway point between our roots in Arizona & California and a place with all the dreamy desert vibes we love. Six months before our big day, we knew we had to get the design and printing done for our save the dates and had to make them something we would never forget!  So here's a behind the scenes look at our finished save the dates & how we made them:   Mark designed this special "Palm Springs" pattern as a tribute to some of our favorite things about the desert - sunshine, cacti, and of course...drinks by the...
